Lake Eymir is located in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara Province. The land where Lake Eymir is located belongs to the Middle East Technical University. 
Lake Eymir is fed by Lake Mogan. in 1910, there was an excessive rainfall in the region. This precipitation has caused Lake Eymir and Lake Mogan to become the only lake. Both lakes are set lakes.

But later in the 1960s, with the efforts of METU Rector Kemal Kurdaş, this land and the lake area became a lush area by afforestation.
