The Temple of Augustus is located in the Altindag district of Ankara Province. It is one of the most important buildings of the Roman Period in Ankara. 
The Temple of Augustus is also known as the Ankara Monument. M.D. it was built between Dec. 25 and 20. It was built by Pilamenes, the daughter of the ruler of Galata Amintos, on behalf of the Roman Emperor Augustus, as a sign of allegiance.

After the death of Augustus, this text was excavated at the Ankara Monument. it is thought that this text, which is a 6-page inscription, can cover a wall with a height of 2700 meters. Latin Greek part of the inscription is in a dilapidated state compared to the Latin parts. Therefore, it is not possible to translate it. 
This bilingual inscription has survived to the present day together with the temple in Ankara. It is of great importance from the point of view of world history. The original of the inscription in Rome has been lost, and the copy in Ankara is the only preserved and complete copy of this inscription. It is of great importance from an archaeological point of view because it is one of the most valuable documents describing the Roman period. 
The Temple of Augustus has been called the "Queen of Inscriptions" by famous historians and linguists in order to draw attention to the importance of the inscription.
